Built in 1972, the Rialto Pipeline spans approximately 30 miles, delivering untreated water from the State Water Project to Metropolitan’s F.E. Weymouth Water Treatment Plant in La Verne. This project includes replacing a 35-foot-long segment of steel pipe and upgrading valves to enhance the pipeline’s long-term reliability and to support future water supply needs. Work will occur at various locations along the pipeline.

Metropolitan will be performing maintenance work on the Santa Monica Feeder in the City of Glendale in the coming months. Installed in 1941, the Santa Monica Feeder serves the cities of Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, and Glendale.
The 49-inch diameter mortar-coated steel portion of the pipeline within Glendale is experiencing corrosion deterioration. To extend the life of the pipeline and reduce the risk of an emergency repair, a cathodic protection system needs to be installed.
This work is necessary to ensure our water distribution system continues to provide a reliable water supply for our 26 public member agencies that serve 19 million customers.

Originally built in 1967, the Second Lower Feeder must be rehabilitated with the insertion of 6,500 feet of welded, steel liner pipe.
The project will run from December to May and is expected to operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Constructed in the 1970s, portions of the prestressed concrete cylinder pipe need to be relined to ensure future water reliability.
The initial phase of work will rehabilitate approximately 2,200 feet of pipeline located in the cities of Irvine and Lake Forest.
