OceanX – CEO Vincent Peribone requests StoryMap support and workshops to help them communicate across the board – their ship is coming to Cabo Verde - and I’m going to ask them to invite Lantuna NGO staff to join the ship on sub dives. Esri earlier this summer had also been drawn into a discussion with NOAA on how we can help OceanX on their MOU with NOAA.

And I had nice discussions with Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Tony Fernandes, as he had really encouraged me to make Cabo Verde my first science envoy visit (he is Cabo Verdean). And he is very supportive of expansion of Esri GIS in State OES (Oceans and International Env & Scientific Affairs). Esri State Dept acct mgr Tiffany Holland and Natl Govt solution engineer Josh Gail just gave him and his staff an hour-long StoryMaps workshop. That’s only one of the many bureaus and offices across the entire State Department that she’s trying to mobilize for effective use of GIS across the enterprise. I'm assisting her as best I can on discussions with State (and thank you Dorothy McAuliffe) about a vision for a future Central Geospatial Authority for the entirety of the State Department.
