1. I visited and volunteered with Seniors First, and organization that exists to provide programs, services and long-term support to Placer County seniors so that they may maintain their independence as long as possible.
2. During Christmas Week of 2024, I had the honor of recognizing Seniors First for their ongoing commitment to serving the seniors of Placer County.

I appreciated joining  @NevCoOES   @CALFIRENEU   @NevCoSheriff  for a briefing on the ongoing storm response and how to leverage all available resources to restore power in  @NevadaCountyCA .

Touring Mono County

1. I appreciated meeting with  @MonoSheriff  Ingrid Braun and Supervisor Rhonda Duggan.
2. I toured Fire Station #1 of the Mammoth Lakes Fire Protection District & discussed the Town’s fire resiliency program and biomass facility plans.
3. I toured the Town of Mammoth Lakes and joined Forest Service members in a discussion of fire prevention efforts in Mono County.

I enjoyed stopping by Folsom Dam to discuss how we can increase our water storage capacity to mitigate droughts and alleviate shortages.

1. During Pearl Harbor, Commander Lou Conter evacuated his blinded, wounded, and burned shipmates from the USS Arizona, even restraining some from jumping overboard into the burning sea. It was my honor to offer special congressional recognition for his heroism and service.
2. I hosted the 2023 Congressional Art Competition at the Center For The Arts in Grass Valley.
3. I toured local businesses on Mill Street on the new Pedestrian Plaza.
4. I enjoyed meeting with constituents at the Grass Valley Cornish Christmas!

I had the opportunity to meet with Barton Hospital Executive Team Members and the Board of Directors to discuss some of the issues facing the healthcare industry and the important role that rural hospitals play in the community.

Lake Tahoe Community College Visits

I stopped by the Lake Tahoe Community College to join students and administrators to discuss how we can expand education opportunities and promote affordable student housing. The college hosts several great programs, including a Fire Academy and Forestry Education Program. I also presented them with a Congressional Record to recognize the school for their 50-year anniversary, and toured the site for their future Public Safety Training Complex.

Groundbreaking for I-80

Good news for local drivers! Yesterday, we broke ground on the I-80 5th lane project. As someone who has spent countless hours sitting in I-80 traffic, this federally funded project should be a huge help to local drivers and reduce traffic congestion in the region.

I had the pleasure of meeting Tim Van Wagoner at First Rain Farm in Nevada City. First Rain Farm is a leader in using prescribed burns to reduce wildfire risk and protect the community, while also operating as a self-sustaining farm that raises fruits and vegetables, employs locals and sells produce to restaurants and markets in Nevada City and Grass Valley.

Bishop Visits

1. It was great to connect with board members and school administrators with Inyo and Mono County.
2. I visited the Tri County Fair in Inyo County. It was great to see all of the booths with the Mayor of Bishop!
3. I enjoyed meeting with members of the   @calcattlemen   in Bishop and discussing how we can best support our ranchers and beef producers.
4. I had the privilege of talking with local veterans in Bishop about how Congress can best honor veterans and protect their benefits.
5. I met with the Northern Inyo Healthcare District, and we discussed the rural healthcare needs of the area, the challenges facing rural hospitals, and the exceptional level of service the hospital provides to the community.
6. I was pleased to talk with leadership of the Bishop Area Chamber of Commerce to discuss what is happening in Washington, D.C and to learn about their community needs.
7. I had the pleasure of hosting a town hall meeting in Bishop.

I met with the Kutzadika tribe to discuss my legislation to give them federal recognition, among other issues such as water rights, education, and fire resiliency.

Touring a Prescribed Burn with the Inyo National Forest

I joined Inyo National Forest fire personnel to learn about their success in completing approximately 400 acres of prescribed fire operations on the Mono Lake Ranger District. These burns improve ecosystem health and reduce hazardous fuels.

I appreciated touring the Casa Diablo IV Powerplant, which produces 30 MW of clean, renewable electricity for 22,000 homes, offsetting 160,000 tons of CO2 emissions.

Loyalton

I appreciated having the opportunity to discuss Loyalton's Water Infrastructure Project, which I was able to secure funds for in the FY2024 Budget. These funds will be used to replace the deteriorating main water line and would ensure access to safe drinking water, as well as enable the fire department to better fight fires.

I was pleased to meet and present Chris and Jenifer Daniels of the Grocery Outlet in Orangevale with a Congressional Recognition for hosting the Turkey Bowl for 4 years in a row. They had the goal of raising $15,000 dollars to feed 500 families during this holiday season, and with the help from all of those that participated, that goal was surpassed. Bridgeport Visits

1. I had the great pleasure of meeting with the Bridgeport Fire Protection District, a volunteer department in Mono County, to learn more about the state-of-the-art radio systems they employ and their emergency response operations.
2. It was great to see the completed Bridgeport Post Office firsthand after winter storms had rendered the building inoperable. Please see below for more information about how my office worked with USPS and Mono County to reopen the Bridgeport Post Office.
3. I was honored to recognized WWII Veteran Richard Burbine for his service to our nation.
4. I toured Hunewill Ranch and met with the Eastern Sierra Land Trust, a group that works with willing landowners to protect vital lands in the Eastern Sierra region for their scenic, agricultural, natural, recreational, historical, and watershed values..

Touring Death Valley National Park

Thank you to the National Park Service and the Death Valley Natural History Association for briefing me about Death Valley National Park. We discussed the damage the park incurred due to Hurricane Hilary and the recent winter storms, and the economic impacts of Death Valley to Inyo County.

1. I joined the Contractors Association of Truckee Tahoe and discussed impacts on the building trade.
2. I stopped by the FiftyFifty Brewing Company to tour their production facility, and I learned more about their nationwide distribution operations.

Orangevale Visits

1. I had the honor of speaking at the Temple Or Rishon Holocaust Toral Dedication of MST Torah #492. This Torah is one of a number of Torahs collected from the town of Domazlice in Bohemia which is now part of the Czech Republic.
2. I provided a federal legislative update to seniors and presented a certificate of recognition to a constituent in honor of receiving the Outstanding Department Director Award.
3. I appreciated the opportunity to speak at the recent Best of Orangevale award ceremonies to highlight the outstanding businesses that Orangevale has to offer.
4. I attended the anniversary of the Orangevale History Museum and presented a Certificate of Congressional Recognition to honor them for their commitment to preserving, promoting, and chronicling the rich history of the Orangevale Community.

I had a great visit to Odin’s headquarters. They showcased their work, and we discussed the future of infrastructure. I will continue using my role on the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee to improving infrastructure and safeguarding communities through legislation.

Al Tahoe Firewise BBQ

It was a pleasure to speak at the Annual Al Tahoe Firewise BBQ, hosted with the South Lake Tahoe Fire Department. I’ve introduced the SAFE HOME Act to support their efforts to protect homes from wildfires. Al Tahoe Firewise is the largest Firewise USA district in the Tahoe Basin. They are focused on educating and supporting the community to prepare for wildfires, with the goal of preventing wildfires within the Al Tahoe neighborhood and reducing the potential impacts by educating those in their community about how to be prepared for, plan, and prevent wildfires while preserving their environment. I greatly appreciate their efforts and thank them for having me.

Quincy Visits

1. I hosted a Get the Scoop event to give Plumas County constituents a federal legislative update.

3. I enjoyed hosting a town hall meeting in Quincy and discussed the importance of active forest management, along with my efforts to suspend the gas tax and reduce inflation.
