The Voices of Fair Haven, CT

A reflection of the community through resident photos.

The PhotoVoice project aims to capture both the environmental assets and hazards in Fair Haven, a small community located in New Haven, CT. More than 100 photos were taken by Fair Haven residents and narrowed down to 50 photos that best capture the feelings, emotions, and concerns of the community. Photos are split into five themes: 1) Abandoned Buildings, 2) Green and Blue Spaces, 3) Homelessness, 4) Trash and Litter, and 5) Safety Hazards. This project serves to help residents, local organizations, and those representing the community alike to better understand the hazards to be addressed and to foster positive social change through participant empowerment.
