Blacksburg - Christiansburg Pedestrian and Bicycle Study
Examining potential multimodal connections along US Route Business 460 (N Franklin Street and S Main Street)
Project Background
Montgomery County, the Town of Christiansburg, and the Town of Blacksburg are currently studying alignments to provide safe and accessible pedestrian, bicycle, and transit connections between Peppers Ferry Road in Christiansburg and Industrial Park Drive in Blacksburg. The project team has developed a concept for the primary alignment, or "Main Corridor", where it appears feasible to put bicycle and pedestrian facilities along US Route 460 Business.
Aside from this Main Corridor, there are several spurs, offshoots, and complementary facilities, as well as several sidewalk gaps within the study area that have been identified. Concepts have been drafted to close those gaps.
