Esri Community Maps

Community Addresses provides the best available data to support the ArcGIS World Geocoding Service. The included addresses represent comprehensive and precise locations for many countries to deliver the most accurate geocoding results.


Content Specifications

Point Address Contributions

Acceptable content for a Point Address contribution, in the order of preference, may include locations placed at:

  • [Best] Rooftop points (central or the entry location on the rooftop of a building)
  • Driveway or entrance locations within the parcel
  • Parcel centroid Address Location
  • Parcel polygon (outside of USA)

The dataset must include the following attributes:

  • House number
  • Apartment, unit, suite information (if available)
  • Complete street name information (for example, "W Main St")
  • Administrative addressing information (such as: City, county, and state for USA)
  • Postal information (required for USA and CAN; and may also be required for other countries)

Distance Marker Contributions

Acceptable content for a Distance Marker contribution may include locations placed at:

  • Distance marker point location alongside highways and\or major routes

The dataset must include the following attributes:

  • Distance unit (mile or kilometer)
  • Distance value (mile or kilometer number)
  • Complete street name information (for example, "Hwy 13 E")
  • Administrative addressing information (such as: City, county, and state for USA)
  • Postal information (required for USA and CAN; and may also be required for other countries)
