This picture of the Farnese Gardens on Palatine Hill is instagrammable because it is of a visually appealing landscape. People often post pictures surrounded by or of greenery, like the picture on the Arch Daily article of the Amalfi Coast that includes a lemon tree. All kinds of plants, flowers, trees, potted plants are subjects of many people’s posts on instagram. Plants are a timeless aesthetic subject. The identical bush trimmings around the trees, the bright green grass and leaves with the pop of orange from the oranges on the trees are visually appealing. The sky is bright and blue which makes it look like it was a nice sunny day which makes it look better than a picture on a cloudy day, which wouldn’t have the same vibrance and appeal.

In Lightroom, I cropped the image so that the Google logo was no longer visible. I turned down the tint to make the green more vibrant. I turned up the temp to try to make it look like there was more light in the picture. I turned down the clarity in hope of making the sky less bright but it looks the same. I also singled out the blue color and turned up its saturation a little so that the vibrance of the flowers stood out more against the grass and leaves. It turned out sort of digital camera looking.

This picture of a Cartoon Network mural is instagrammable because it’s a fun looking picture of street art. It was said in the Arch Daily article that adding art to a building would compliment the structure it is on and therefore lead to more likes and engagement. I thought this would be a good example of an instagrammable spot because whenever I had seen people near this building, there were always multiple people who took pictures. The apartment’s exterior features very accurate drawings of cartoon characters from a lot of popular television shows which is very eye-catching and could make viewers feel nostalgic. It’s also unique because street art or murals on residential properties do not usually move around the building the way this one does.

In Lightroom, I first cropped the image so that the Google maps tabs and the bottom of the building weren't visible. I turned up the saturation on blue for the sky and the character on the bottom of this side of the mural. It also made the reflection of the sky in the windows more visible. I wanted the painting of Garnet from Steven Universe on the right to be more visible so I turned up the saturation on red. I turned up the vibrance, which made wall and the yellow section on the wall look less dull. The 'x' sign from maps was also visible in the upper right corner on the green construction fence so I used the blur tool on it to blend it in.
