Town of Summerville and Carolina Waste offers pick up services but how do you know what day they will come?

Below are three maps that will help located the day for garbage, recycling, yard and bulk waste pick up.

No Pick-Up Days

Please note that there are a few days throughout the year when pick-up services are not available. If your normal pick-up day falls on one of these days, your pick-up will occur on the following business day.

Please note, for closing during observed holidays or increment weather the scheduled date for your street will move to the next business day.

Garbage and Recycling

Carolina Waste offers weekly garbage and recycling pick-up services for residents of Summerville.

Residents can place trash or recycling in the corresponding containers provided by Carolina Waste.

Blue lid is the recycling container, green lid is for trash.

Reminder, the container is to be placed inside the curb and outside the drainage ditch line of the street. On your designated day of pick up it should be out no later than 5:30 am.

Carolina Waste will pick up your garbage and recycling on the same day.

As of June 28, 2021 Town of Summerville residents have seen the establishment of single stream recycling.

What materials can and can't be recycled?


Reminder

Recycle materials cannot be put into a plastic garbage bags.

Empty and rinse all containers to remove food residue.

Cardboard boxes need to be flattened.

The Town of Summerville provides a service to pick up residents yard waste once a week.

Yard waste must be in open pile or bagged in a recyclable paper bags.

Tree limbs must not be longer than four feet.

Boards, wood or plastic cannot be mixed in with yard debris.


Bulk waste will be picked up once a month by the town.

Bulk waste is considered furniture, appliances, boards or fencing.

Town of Summerville will not pick up tires, paint or any electronics.

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) has reported an increased recycled amount of municipal solid waste materials (MSW), defined as everyday items.

MSW recycling increased to 1,183,984 tons - an almost 4% increase from last year - SCDHEC
