In our everyday lives, every decision we make, and every action we take depends on the situation we are in or where we are. For instance, if we wanted to move, we would not want to choose a house that lives near a lake or a coast in an area that is prone to tsunamis. In this example, we can see how the physical characteristics of that area changed our decision as humans. When it comes to floods, it is a similar thinking process. In an area that is prone to flooding, we can normalize drills in place in case of floods and building/living in structures that are not located on flat grounds. This can mitigate the amount of buildings and homes that are usually destroyed when located on flat or coastal lands. Educating the youth on what can happen if you were to do an activity like this in an area like that. For instance, lighting a campfire in the middle of a forest can lead to forest fires. In conclusion, better understanding the physical environment and how to change the human environment can help humans make decisions that can protect us from devastating natural disasters.
