Dead trees and trees in bad condition in Praga-Północ

I mapped 68 trees in Praga-Północ dead or in bad condition: 48 were without leaves, 13 had 0 - 25% leaves and 5 trees - 25-50%.

Due to climate change vegetation in Polish cities suffer from drougths. It happens, that during few weeks in spring or summer there is no rain at all. City greenery and parks department often cannot water all the trees in their area. Most exposed for droughts are young trees with roots weakly developed. Unfortunately not all planted trees in Warsaw has warranty, so there are plenty of dead trees that are not replaced for new ones.

The part of city which was analysed was Praga-Północ district. Overall there was 1,8 km2 area to map. Some streets such as Targowa street have trees in good condition, so there are no trees noted on this map. In other places there are whole rows of dead trees or in bad condition. It could happen because of wrong time of planting trees, week seedling or unsufficient care by the city gardeners.

The biggest issue during this task was to recognise the tree specie when it had no leaves. In some cases I could handle it when there was a small label from the tree nursery or the tree was a part of a row with healthy trees.
