Imagining Arts and Culture Around Every Corner. Click to expand.

Corona Insights has worked with Denver Arts and Venues since 2012. After a large-scale outreach and research effort, which included a statistically-valid public survey, Corona drafted a cultural plan that guided the growth of Denver’s cultural infrastructure. In 2017 and 2020, Corona re-fielded the survey to determine what changes had occurred. This survey has continued to include large samples of African Americans and Latinx residents to assess how their experiences compare with other residents. The results of the 2017 survey were presented as part of the IMAGINE2020 speaker series, including a session facilitated by Corona to discuss the work needed to improve the experience of African American and Latinx residents. Currently, Corona is conducting the public survey again to help inform the new Cultural Plan and we are analyzing interviews with arts and culture stakeholders.

Prioritizing High County Health and Wellness. Click to expand.

Grand County Public Health hired Corona Insights in 2012, 2018, and 2023 to conduct a series of community health and wellness needs assessments. We began by conducting an analysis of census data to describe the population and reveal disparities by geography and ethnicity. We then surveyed health professionals, health affiliates, and county residents. Next, we conducted in-depth interviews with a segment of the populations that indicated on their survey that they felt socially isolated and sought healthcare outside the county. Supported by our research, we developed a list of health and wellness issues and opportunities. The project concluded with a prioritization summit where stakeholders discussed and chose specific issues to prioritize, which the county used to draft its five-year health improvement plan.

The Food Bank of the Rockies (FBR), who manages The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) in much of Colorado, needed to better understand where and how food distribution gaps emerge and persist. Therefore, FBR hired Corona Insights to conduct a needs assessment of TEFAP in the four Colorado counties. This assessment included four steps. We first leveraged mapping software and existing census data to reveal the gaps in food access and identify where and how TEFAP distribution sites could be added to better serve qualifying residents. Then, we interviewed staff, volunteers, and neighbors at food pantries in these gap areas to learn about their operations and perceptions or/interest in TEFAP. Interviews were supplemented with site visits, where we gained an in-depth view of how pantries operate and their implementation of TEFAP. Finally, we facilitated four community meetings, one in each study area, to discuss challenges and solutions to food distribution. FBR is using the assessment results to strengthen or build new relationships with food pantries that are best suited to meet the needs of clients living in underserved areas.
