Mapping Street Art Inspired by George Floyd

During a crisis, street art transforms urban landscapes, reaches a wide audience, fuels dialogue and inspires lasting change.

Street artists are in a unique position to respond quickly and effectively in a moment of crisis.

Street art’s ephemeral nature reveals very immediate and sometimes fleeting responses, often in a manner that can be raw and direct.

These works illustrate the visual landscape of protest along University Avenue in Saint Paul. They take many forms, including quickly-written and often anonymous graffiti, murals produced by passionate and creative non-professionals, and works created by artists experienced with mural painting.
