Select your planting area.

Dig a hole.

Using whatever tool is best for you, dig a hole that is equal in size or slightly larger than the pot your wiliwili is in.
Ensure that there is ample soil at the bottom of your hole, and that the roots will have a place to grow into.
A rocky environment is OK for this tough little wiliwili!

Saturate the bottom of the hole with water.

This will ensure that the young plant will have immediate access to water as soon as its planted.
It is also a good time to check the drainage of the planting location- make sure the roots have somewhere to go.

Remove the wiliwili from its pot.

Massage the sides of the pot to loosen the roots.
Support the stem and remove the pot.
Loosen up any rootbound roots that coiling around themselves. It's OK if there is some tearing/ripping noises, it's better for the new roots to grown down rather than around and around.

Place the plant in its new home.

Be sure to gently place the plant into the hole, and ensure the roots are not bending upwards back towards the sky. This is called "J-rooting" and will stunt the plant's growth over time.

Fill the hole in with soil.

Use the existing dirt or new soil to fill in the hole up to bottom of the stem of your tree.
The new soil should be at an equal height to the wherever the soil was growing while it was in its pot.

Mulch around the base of the plant

Use rocks or other mulching material to cover up the new soil at the top of your planting area.
Mulch will prevent weeds and keep moisture in the soil for your new plant.

Water in your new plant

Use at least 1 gallon of water to saturate the area of your new plant.
The plant can be watered 1-3 times per week, or as needed until it is established.
Once established, you may find that you'll never need to water your wiliwili again!
