Departure from London; arrived in Calcutta (1764-1765). Gerard Gustavus accompanied his brother James to travel to South Asia to potentially make a fortune.

Transfer to Murshidabad

Departure from Calcutta; arrived in Murshidabad district (1767). Ducarel first served as a Persian translator under Sir Francis Sykes.

Supervisor in Purnea

Departure from Murshidabad; arrived in Purnea (1769). He moved into the household of Richard Becher and eventually became a supervisor in Purnea. It was here where he met Sharaf un-Nisa.

Departure from Purnea; arrived in Murshidabad (1774). Ducarel presumably brought along Sharaf un-Nisa and their daughter.

Relocation to Calcutta

Departure from Purnea; arrived in Calcutta (1776). He finally returned to Calcutta, where he brought his wife and children for the next six years.2

After departing from Calcutta, Ducarel arrived in Burdwan (1782).
