2024 North Dakota Geospatial Summit
A Brief Wrap-Up

The 2024 North Dakota Geospatial Summit, held September 25-26 at the Bismarck Event Center, was another success, thanks to the presenters, the attendees, and the sponsors! The Geospatial Summit originated as GIS Day in 2001. In 2005 that event turned into the North Dakota GIS Users Conference. Reflecting the dynamic and widening geospatial field but not losing sight of the foundation continuing to be built upon by geospatial professionals, in 2019 the event was renamed the North Dakota Geospatial Summit.
Who Was at the Summit?
There was a nice cross-section of represented organizations with governmental agencies being dominant. Total attendance was 136.
Where Did Everyone Come From?
The Foundation of the Summit
The Geospatial Summit is made possible by the financial support of the sponsors, by having content from the presenters, and by the attendees.

Memorable Quotes
"The geographic perspective is important. You're seeing the connectiveness of spheres, the ecosphere is connected to the hydrosphere, is connected to the atmosphere, is connected to the lithosphere, is connected to the anthroposphere, right? The human sphere. They're all connected. And when we change a variable over here, even in our communities, it's going to affect potentially a variable over there, so we need to see the world as a connected system of systems."
AI will not put you out of a job, someone who knows AI will” - economist Richard Baldwin
