This book was written by John Feinstein.

Plot of the story. The exposition is when we start meeting our first characters. We meet Alex which is the main character. We also meet another character in the story named Matt. Matt took steroids and got banned from the football season and was lucky enough to play the baseball season. And then we also meet the rest of the guys. They all play baseball for Chester Heights. We also learn that Matt is the best baseball player on the team.

The rising action is when we learn that Matt turns out to be a insanely great baseball player. the baseball team is facing one of the best teams in there league. Chester Heights is ranked second at the time and the other team is somewhere is somewhere in the top ten. Matt was pitching that game.

The climax is when matt was just about to throw a no hitter the kid on the other team bunted it and got a base hit. That mad Matt really mad so next pitch he was going to throw it inside. The ball slipped out of his hand and nailed the kid in the head. They called the game off because the kid had to go to the hospital.

The falling action is Matt is going to get suspended from the rest of the season from that. Alex has his dad come down to help Matt because he needs a lawyer from what has happened. Now the baseball team has to play the rest of the season without there star player.

The resolution is that Matt is suspended from baseball but he can only hit in the games. So now the baseball team goes on to have tied for the best record. They need to win there last game to have the best record. The game they are playing is the team that Matt threw a baseball at the kids head. Alex is pitching that game. Alex's team is winning the game by one run in the bottom of the last inning. The kid that got hit in the head with a baseball goes up to bat. The kid hits the ball really far looking like a homerun. The centerfielder goes all the way back to the fence and jumps up as high as he can. He falls down and looks into his glove and he had caught the baseball. Chester Heights now had the best record of the baseball season.

Characterization. Alex, he is our main character. He is a freshman and his parents are divorced. His dad lives in Boston so he does not see him very much. He has a sister. He is a pitcher and outfielder for his baseball team. He is also the backup quarterback for Chester Heights. Matt, he is also one of the main characters. He is the starting quarterback for Chester Heights. He is great friends with Alex. He took steroids and was banned from the football season but was lucky enough to play the baseball season. He is a Junior and his first year playing baseball. We meet another character Christine. She is Alex's girlfriend and Matt likes her but Christine doesn't like Matt. Christine is the newspaper writer and is a sports illustrator for Chester Heights. We meet another character Jonas. This is one of Alex's best friends. He gives Alex tons of advice and is also a good baseball player.

Themes. A theme in the story is do not let your anger take over you. In the story when Matt was pitching a no hitter and then one of the batters on the other team bunted and got a base hit Matt got mad. Then he ended up throwing a ball at the next kid's head and just about got suspended from the rest of the season..
