Research Infrastructure -Cooperative Oxford Laboratory

The Cooperative Oxford Laboratory is centrally located on Chesapeake Bay near the confluence of the Tred Avon and Choptank Rivers.
RV Chesapeake is a 55' vessel with twin 540 HP Detroit diesel engines with a cruising speed of 17 knots.
The vessel has Wi-Fi, a full suite of instrumentation, a dedicated Captain and first mate and can accommodate up to 8 additional people.
On board are a multi-beam sonar, weather station, trawl winch (0.9 ton), an A-frame (2.5 ton), cross deck winches (1.5 ton), generator, freezer, refrigerator, and ample aft deck and below deck laboratory space.

The Cooperative Oxford Laboratory Library (COLL) is a highly specialized library focusing on marine science.
It supports research needs of the staff and visiting scientists, area academia, private industry, federal, state and county government agencies and the general public.
NOAA Diving
NOAA divers conduct mission related work and research across all NOAA line offices, with the majority of dives being scientific in nature.
COL has one NOAA diver on staff that supports inhouse and external partners with scientific diving needs.
The laboratory has the ability to provide up to 500 gallons per minute of sea water pumped directly from the Tred Avon River to support research on locally important marine species.
