Montgomery Affordable Housing Plan 2040 (MAHP2040)
Synthesis Studio, Fall 2021
In Fall 2021 Synthesis Studio class worked in four teams and focus on the Montgomery Housing Authority (MHA), affordable housing assets, and low and poor income residents in preparing a housing redevelopment plan and housing redevelopment strategies for the MHA and its select housing assets. The selected project was, Smiley Ct, Paterson Court, Victor-Tulane Gardens, and Gibbs Village East.
Objective 1 For the studio covered the detailed study and understanding of key issues, key concepts, affordable housing policies, and programs including definitions, terminology, tools, and means for achieving affordability.
Objective 2 Covered the detailed understanding of MHA sites and how it contributes to the adjacent amenities. objective 2 was more directed towards undertaking analysis and assessment of key challenges facing MHA residents, obstacles to development and redevelopment of MHA assets, and identifying residents’ needs.
Objective 3 was to prepare a comprehensive Montgomery Affordable Housing Plan 2040 (MAHP2040) utilizing the learning from objectives 1 and 2.
Objective 4 and 5 are the detail of a specific site of Montgomery housing Authority.
