North Delaware Creek Project

Channel Improvements from SH-183 to Finley Road

The existing channel is undersized and causes flooding to adjacent residential properties and businesses. The project proposes improvements to increase the capacity of the channel and provide flooding relief to the area.

The planning study kicked-off on March 1, 2021, and is anticipated to be completed by Spring 2022.

Project Details:

The project is currently in the planning stages and is divided into three construction phases as follows:

Phase 1: SH-183 to Henry Drive

Phase 2: Henry Drive to Harvard Street

Phase 3: Harvard Street to Finley Road

It is anticipated that the existing channel will be deepened and will use vertical walls, similar to the improvements downstream of SH-183. This will increase the capacity of the channel and will provide flooding relief to adjacent residential properties and businesses.

This design approach will limit the footprint of the channel and minimize the easement acquisitions required to construct the channel.

Phase 1 of the project is expected to begin design in the Spring of 2022, and begin construction in the Summer of 2023.
