Ownership Please check this via the Land Register of Scotland, so you are aware of what owners you will need to involve in the process. You can also use the Property Factor Finder to get more information and contact details for your properties factor. If you have a shared private lane and no factor is currently in place you can arrange for a factor to manage the maintenance on your behalf, with a contribution towards the costs of any work from each property. Citizens Advice Scotland can be used for more information on property factors.

Permission from Neighbours You will be required to confirm all lane owners have been made aware of your lane improvement plans and that they have no objections to the work being carried out. If there are Housing Association properties involved, they must be engaged also. Glasgow City Council takes no responsibility for objections to work which is being/has been carried out.

Conservation Area Please check if your lane is within a conservation area and ensure you stay within the perimeters on the work allowed.

Adding in VAT Please consider the additional VAT expenses within your application and budget for this accordingly.

Pictures We require before pictures with your application. After pictures will be required and monitoring will be carried out after the work is complete.

Public Liability Insurance Private Lane Owners are liable for any injuries/damage incurred within their land boundary. We would strongly recommend for lane owners to get Public Liability Insurance which can be found on comparison sites.
