State Highway 35
I-610 to Future SH 99 (Grand Parkway)
A fresh take on mobility
The Texas Department of Transportation is examining the potential for a north-south highway to meet the mobility needs of growing communities in southeast Houston, Brookside Village, Pearland, Manvel, Alvin, Friendswood and League City.
SH 35 is part of a larger transportation network
The proposed improvements to SH 35 have the potential to create a new hurricane evacuation corridor that meets the two existing projects to the north

The Proposed SH 35 Project and the SH 35 North Extension Project have different timelines.
Project Goals
Reduce traffic congestion
Improve mobility
Improve transportation safety
Provide additional evacuation route
Connect communities to centers of employment
Why Start Now?
The project area is growing.
- Populations in South Houston, Brookside Village, Pearland, Manvel, Alvin, and League City are expected to increase over 100% in some areas.
Increased population and new development will contribute to more roadway congestion.
Existing traffic congestion inhibits efficient mobility
Poor Levels of Service (LOS) can increase accident frequency and lower travel safety.

Figure right: Evening LOS
Levels of Service (LOS) are a metric to measure traffic flow on a highway.
Which segment do you live in?
- Each segment will be addressed carefully to address the needs of existing communities.
- Public Meetings will be held to address stakeholder questions and take comments.
Public involvement is necessary for a proactive, collaborative, inclusive, and transparent project.
