The Spanish Flu In Yellowstone County
The Spanish Flu took place during World War I and was the cause of many deaths during that time. Although, it was referred to as "The Spanish Flu" it was just Influenza. The Influenza outbreak was most prominent in the late 1910s; mainly 1918 and 1919. Considering that most nurses were stationed with the men who were fighting, other women still in their homes needed to step up and help the sick citizens. During the Flu the medical equipment and knowledge were not advanced enough to cure and heal the sick fully. This intense time shaped the U.S. and Yellowstone County into what it is today, and without those trials who knows how technologically advanced America would be in the medical field?
