What we heard

What has changed since March 2023?
- Project limits were extended south, through the Overland Road intersection, to facilitate a continuous multi-use pathway
- Added a longer concrete pedestrian railing and wall along the multi-use path to increase safety along the approaches to the overpass
- Widen buffer between MUP and road from 4-feet to 5-feet
- Increased multi-use pathway width on overpass and approaches
- The City of Meridan plans to landscape the buffer space between the multi-use pathway and the street, as well as center medians
- Construction is now anticipated for 2026/2027
Project Description
- Construct a new 4-lane overpass spanning Interstate 84.
- Widen Linder Road, between Franklin Road and new overpass to two lanes in each direction with a center turn lane.
- Extend Linder Road, from Overland Road to new overpass.
- Add multi-use pathways for pedestrians and bicyclists.
- Include enhanced pedestrian crossings on Linder Road near Waltman Street and Greenhead Drive.
- Construct landscaped center medians for speed mitigation.
- Replace bridges over Tenmile Creek and the Kennedy Lateral.
- Realign west section of Verbena Drive.

Interstate I-84 Overpass
The proposed overpass will feature:
- Two travel lanes in each direction
- A multi-use pathway separated with a concrete pedestrian wall

Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon at Waltman Street
Add a pedestrian hybrid beacon on Linder Road at Waltman Street and Gander Drive to improve crossing safety for pedestrians and bicyclists.

Overland Road and Linder Road Intersection
Extend Linder Road from Overland Road to the north, to connect to the proposed overpass.

Right in, Right out
- Add a curb median on Linder Road near Franklin Road for safety.
- Barrett Drive and nearby business driveways will have right in, right out access only.
- U-turns allowed at Franklin Road.

Multi-Use Pathways
- Multi-use pathways are two-way facilities meant to accommodate both pedestrians and bicyclists of all ages and abilities.
- They provide more space between motorists and those walking and biking, which increases safety.
- They are often used on roads with higher speeds and traffic volumes.
