PGRC
Peninsula Girls Rowing Club

What is PGRC?
Peninsula Girls Rowing Club was the first all girls rowing club in the Cape Town, South Africa. It was started in 1997 by Alfred's Rowing club with the intention of growing women's rowing in South Africa. Since then it gained independence and is one of the top rowing clubs. For a long time PGRC was the only place in Cape Town where girls could learn how to row. In 2016 Grassy Park Rowing Club (GPRC) opened, exposing more young women to the sport.

I was part a member of PGRC for 5 years, from 7th to 12th grade. With all of the time we spent together, these girls became a second family. There is no experience that compares to the one with these girls.
Where did we go?
We travelled around the country to compete in races against other schools and clubs.
