NATURE CAMPS

Woodsy Walkers

Ages 2-5 with an adult; time: 10 am -11:45 am

Introduce your kids to the nature camp experience. Little campers, accompanied by an adult, explore the trails and discover a variety of natural history topics with stories, games, walks, and crafts! Please bring a nut-free snack each day.

Wild Things: Sense-ational

Kids experience the natural world with all five senses and discover how animals use their senses to survive! Meet LIVE animals, have adventures on the trails, play games, make crafts, and more. Finish with a special tasting party and a scavenger hunt with prizes!

Art in Nature Camp

Enjoy a week of drawing, journaling, painting, and crafts with the natural world for inspiration. Kids create masterpieces, discover the work of real artists, and learn about wildlife and habitats, all at the same time.

Survivor: Backpacker

Ages 8-10; time: 9 am-3 pm

Kids learn fun and valuable skills in our active, hands-on Survivor camps. This season’s topic, Backpacker, is all about hiking, being prepared, hanging bear bags, setting up campsites, purifying water, tying knots and more! Our camps help boost kids’ self-confidence and bring them closer to the natural world, all while having fun! The last day will feature a mini backpacking experience and river exploration at another park.

Wild Explorers

Age: 11-14, time: 9 am-3 pm

Session 1: July 28-August 1

Location: Pyramid Mountain

Session 2: August 11-15

Location: Great Swamp OEC

Cost: $400 per camper per week

In this camp, our oldest campers will tackle the trail! Every day you’ll hike out into nature, learning about habitats and wildlife, take part in fun activities, and so much more! Finish the week with a game day and snack buffet at a different park!

Activities subject to change, but may include hiking, team building, canoeing, rock climbing gym, games day, water fun/swimming, campfire and geocaching.

Counselors in Training (CIT)

Ages 14-17, time: 8:30 am-4 pm

Week 1: July 14-25 (no weekend days)

Cost: $200 per counselor

Location: Great Swamp OEC

Teenagers who enjoy the outdoors and working with young children can gain resume-building experience and knowledge by becoming CITs! For two weeks, CITs work with campers, and are mentored and trained by camp staff. Training topics include natural history, how to work with children, and a final leadership project. Must be able to work both weeks.

Interested teens need to complete an application and submit a letter of recommendation.

 Upon completion, CITs receive a certificate detailing their hours of service.

GARDENING CAMPS

How does it grow? What does it need? When is it ready to harvest? Kids will dive into the world of gardening, using hands-on skills to explore, create, and discover. They'll get their hands in the soil, grow their own plants, and unleash their artistic talents with garden-inspired creations. Plus, they'll harvest, cook, and enjoy the delicious fruits of their labor!

Arboretum Artists

Ages 10-14; time 9 am-3 pm

Session: August 18-22

Cost: $400 per camper per week

Let creativity bloom! Kids will explore our vibrant gardens and unleash their inner artist, creating unique works of art each day using a variety of exciting media. A new masterpiece awaits daily!

Fairy Friends

Ages 5-8; AM session 9 am-12 pm or PM session 1 pm-4pm

Step into the enchanting world of garden fairies! Campers will embark on a magical adventure filled with crafts, games, and fairy-tastic fun. Create dazzling fairy wings, wands, and whimsical houses while discovering the secrets of what fairies love most. Let the magic begin!

Bouquet Bootcamp

Ages: 8-13, time: 9 am-12 pm

Calling all Tweens and Teens! Discover your inner florist by creating stunning, show-stopping bouquets daily with fresh flowers picked right from our beautiful garden. Unleash your creativity and design a masterpiece each day!

Arboretum Favorites

At this hands-on camp, our youngest farmers get to learn all about our animals and crops! Feed and meet the animals, explore the farm, help harvest in the gardens, and create fun crafts to take home.

Come to Fosterfields and experience the fun of farm life! Plant and harvest crops, go fishing, build old-fashioned toys, and help the farmers take care of our animals. Campers will have the chance to cuddle goats, brush cows, weigh piglets, and more.

Youth Farm Camp

Ages 11-14; time: 9:30 am-3 pm

Cost: $275 per camper per week

Location: Fosterfields Living Historical Farm

Experience summer as a farmer! Tend the gardens and harvest food to take home. Help the farm staff take care of the animals by feeding, watering, and herding. Learn historical craft skills from our expert counselors.

Future Farmers Science Camp

Ages 12-16, time: 9:30 am-3:00 pm

Session: July 7-11

Cost: $300 per camper per week

Calling all science buffs! Join Fosterfields camp staff in this all-new camp dedicated to learning about animal and crop science. Get hands on experience working with our livestock and crops in our historic setting. Space is limited.

Recipe for Adventure

Ages 9-12; time: 9:30 am-2 pm

Session 1: June 30-July 3, Cost: $200 per camper

Session 2 (Advanced): July 28-August 1, Cost: $300 per camper

Location: Historic Speedwell/ Fosterfields Living Historic Farm

Wanted! Time-traveling chefs in training...discover the link between the farm, the mill and the food on our table. Campers will take a culinary journey into the past as we cook dishes over an open-hearth fire, garden, churn, prepare the perfect table, and dine like its 1899!

Apprentice Camp

Ages 10-14, time: 9 am-3 pm

Session 1: June 23-27

Session 2: July 21-25

Cost: $350 per camper per week

Location: Cooper Gristmill

From the smithing forge to fiber arts, our apprentice camp is a perfect, beginners level introduction to America’s craft and trade traditions. Our campers will learn safe tool use and basic techniques with the guidance of a trade specialist, before undertaking a project under their supervision. This camp is perfect for learners who excel in small class sizes and interested in giving fiber arts, smithing, or woodworking a try!

Creative Crafters

Ages 8-12, time: 9:30 am-1 pm

Session 1: July 7-11

Session 2: August 25-29

Cost: $225 per camper per session

Location: Fosterfields Living Historical Farm

Calling all young artists! Use nature and the farm as inspiration for our projects. Learn historical crafts such as spinning wool into yarn, weaving, toymaking, and more. Make art inspired by historical art movements and create en plein air (outside) just like artists did in the past. Get to know each animal, visit historic buildings, and take your creations home!

Camp Sunrise Lake

Age 5-11; time: 9 am-3:30 pm (Early drop off and late pick-up available-space limited)

CITs: Ages 12-14 (At least 1 year as a Camp Sunrise Lake camper pre-requisite)

If you are interested in both Morning AND Afternoon Explorers, you must register your camper for both options separately.

Experience days filled with new adventures, safe exploration, budding friendships, and memories that last a lifetime. Half of each day is spent at Sunrise Lake Beach Club swimming in the lake, playing on our inflatable obstacle course, the Wibit, taking turns going down the Zoom Floom slides, and building awe-inspiring sand castles. The other portion of each day is filled with age-appropriate sports, games, arts and crafts, and other fun activities.

Lewis Morris Adventurers

Age 5-9; time: 8:30 am-12 pm

Central Park Adventurers

Central Park Adventurers is the second installment of our minicamp "Adventurer program, expanding into the Central Park of Morris County. Based out of our 420-acre, multi-faceted sports complex, Central Park Explorers will play sports and games, hike on the trail system, and interact with all aspects of Central Park!

Learn-To-Skate

  • Learn to Skate camps are for 4–12-year-olds (no prior skating experience required). Skaters divided by age and skill level.

Figure Skating Camps for skaters who have passed Basic 5 through Learn to Skate.

Hockey Clinic

Ages: 7-15, time: 8:30 am-12:45 pm

Session 1: July 14-18

Cost: $300 per player per session

  • Our camp will have a strong emphasis on skating and fundamental hockey skills. Through the development of these skills, the program will lift the player to a level required for more competitive play. Camp instructors will teach innovative practice drills to help athletes develop their strength, agility, quickness and flexibility. Skating performance training will include proper edge control, forward/backward starts, controlled turns and steps. Puck control drills, shooting, passing and receiving will also be a key component of instruction. All players should have at least one year of playing experience.
