Massachusetts
A look into the characteristics of the state of Massachusetts.
Introduction
This is a simple state map of Massachusetts border, that also contains the counties of Massachusetts and the interstate highways that run through it.
The state flag of Massachusetts
1.) Hillshade Land Cover
This is a Land Cover map that is layered over a Hill shade layer of Massachusetts. From this layer you can see that majority of the land is nature besides the major cities. The land of Massachusetts is relatively flat except leading to the west
2.) Elevation Contours
This is a map of the elevation contours of the state of Massachusetts with majority of the state being on the more relatively flat side of things near the coast with hills and and some contouring towards the center of the state. The main elevation comes in the western portion of Massachusetts where part of the Appalachian mountains run through
3.) Population Change 2010-2015
This map shows the population change by county from 2010 to 2015 and can be interpreted by the color spectrum. The lighter the color more subtle or even negative population change the area had with areas like Berkshire that actually lost population. The darker areas however, show an increases in the amount of people that live in those counties with Middlesex have the largest growth increasing at around 36,572 people.
4.) Presidential Election 2016
This map shows the results of the 2016 presidential election by county. As you can see the democratic nominee Hilary Clinton actually won all of the counties in Massachusetts. Not surprising as Massachusetts is a historically Blue state.
5.) Population Heat Map
This map shows the dispersion of heat based on the population of the state as you can see the bigger cities such as Boston or Springfield have higher heat density than places like Gardner or Greenfield due to the much more dense population.
6.) Hospital Driving Times
This map shows through color code the distance around each hospital and how long it would take to drive to said hospital from each area. From the map it is safe to say that Massachusetts has quite a few hospital and that the distance to drive doesn't usually go past 15 minutes if your live near one of the cities.
So for the most part it's not a crazy thing to say that Massachusetts doesn't have a bad hospital range and placement density.
