Driving Tour of Squirrel Hill

Experience Squirrel Hill’s history, geography and notable sights in this driving tour around the neighborhood.

Frick Park

Squirrel Hill is a large neighborhood with lots of interesting things to see and do. Within its 3.89 square miles, it has a mile-long business district, imposing synagogues and churches, two universities, two large city parks, miles of hiking and biking trails, and a number of historic buildings, all perched on a high hill surrounded by valleys. Follow this driving tour to see the neighborhood from top to bottom.

You can begin the tour anywhere. The FRICK PARK ENVIRONMENTAL CENTER, 2005 Beechwood Blvd., is recommended. Scroll down through the tour to move to the next stop. For stops with multiple images, you can click the left and right arrows to scroll through them.

SUGGESTION: The full tour with the side trips is about 14 miles long and covers a lot of ground. Many of the places on the tour are interesting enough to stop and explore on foot. The tour can be done in sections on different days, or you can choose one place to visit at a time.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This tour is designed to stay on main roads and avoid difficult traffic situations, but use extreme caution at all times when driving and stopping at various locations. It is best to familiarize yourself with the route beforehand in order to avoid sudden stops and turns.
