Crime rates of Boyle Heights

why have crime rates risen so high in Boyle heights and neighborhoods like it and how we can bring the crime rates down?

If you are a resident of Boyle Heights you might know that the crime rates are still a little high and it's still not completely safe in Boyle Heights. In this presentation, I will talk about why crime rates are high in Boyle Heights and the steps this community would need to do to decrease the crime rates. I'm sure anybody would want to know they live in a safe community/neighborhood so I'm taking the steps to show how we can make Boyle Heights a safer place and why it's not completely safe. I hope this presentation inspires you to help make your neighborhood a safer place as well so you don't ever have to worry about someone robbing your house or being a victim of a violent crime.

La crime rates have always been not the best and we could use some work to decrease them. On this website called area vibes, they got information that the FBI released on the total crime of 2019 on Boyle Heights per 100k people, and the total crime was estimated to be 2,830 which is 14% above the national crime rate. An estimate of 2,089 being property crimes and 741 violent crimes which is almost 2 times more than the national 379 per 100k people, but the property crimes per 100k people in Boyle Heights is a bit under the national average. This is data from 2019 but this is still very bad and additionally area vibes gave Boyle Heights a F rating, but they did include that Los Angeles crime rates are decreasing 4% every year and if this keeps happening Los Angeles and its neighborhoods like Boyle Heights will become safer over time which is what we want.

Crime rates per 1k in Los Angeles

This map is the crime rates of Los Angeles in 2013 per 1k people and this map is shaded from white to dark blue, white being the places where crime rates are the lowest and dark blue being the places where crime rates are the highest.

If we want to keep on decreasing the crime rate in Los Angeles by 4% every year our city has to keep working to improve. If we don't keep working to improve bad things will start to happen, for example in January 2021 it only took 14 days for 59 shootings to take place in Los Angeles which was a major amount. We should work to improve our police departments because if we don't people will keep doing violent crimes and that would be very bad after all the work put in to make Los Angeles slowly a better place. We should work to make our police better so people are more scared to do violent crimes so we can show one day that Los Angeles is a safe place. This is going to be a hard goal for our city to achieve but some things are not impossible and this is something that is not impossible and I'm sure one day a lot of LA will be safe.

Yes, I went on talking about the crimes but I haven't gone enough in detail so now I will go more into depth about different crime rates even more so the reader of this can know more specific details about who is doing the crimes. Since this is about Boyle Heights crime rates I will talk more about Boyle Heights crime rates and the first thing I got to talk about is crime rates and I got data that in 2018 1,035 people were arrested from Boyle Heights which is quite a lot and that is not good to hear. Now you know that 1,035 people were arrested and you can link that to the data I shared earlier. This isn't the biggest number since the population of Boyle Heights is way larger but this is terrible to hear. This is another reason why we should work to decrease crime rates and stay on track with crime rates going down 4% every year.

If we keep reducing the crime rates of Los Angeles at this rate it's going to take a while to reduce the crime rates but if we work harder to achieve this we can reduce the crime rates even faster. This would be amazing because then kids would be less scared to walk around the neighborhood and for adults they would be less scared to travel around the neighborhood in the night. In conclusion, I and I'm sure many other people would want to make LA a less dangerous place and for that reason remember any support that helps can help LA be less dangerous in the long term.
