Los Angeles, California Locations

Modern Family (locations 1-3)

Modern Family is a show about the three families that form the Pritchett family. Each family is slightly unconventional from the average TV family making it a realistic and modern family. The series ran from 2009 to 2020. The locations you can view from the series include the houses of Phil & Claire (1), Mitch & Cam (2), and Jay & Gloria (3). Modern Family takes place in the suburbs of Los Angeles, California.

The Office (locations 4-14)

The Office was created in 2004 based off the BBC version of the same name. The series is a mockumentary following the lives of employees at the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. The Office uses many real locations, as opposed to sound stages or solely as images between scenes, to give the show a very 'real' feel. Locations that you can visit include Jim & Pam’s house (4), Poor Richard’s Pub (5), Jim & Pam’s church (6), Oscar’s house (7), Scranton Business Park/the office (8), Michael’s condo (9), David Wallace’s house (10), Darryl's house (11), Schrute Farms (12), Meredith's house (13), and Lake Scranton (14). Poor Richard's Pub location is actually a bar named Pickwick's Pub and the interior was also used for scenes taking place at the pub. The series is set in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

New Girl (locations 15-17)

New Girl is a sitcom focused on the quirky, main character Jess's navigation of life in her thirties with the help of her best friend and roommates. The show uses exterior shots of the Loft (15) and the bar (17). The show primarily films in sound stages, however, the interior of the bar where Nick bartends and the gang often hangs out is a real bar, The Prince (16). The exterior shots of the bar are from a different location memorable for its neon sign of a griffin holding a drink. New Girl takes place in downtown Los Angeles, California.

Parks and Rec (locations 18-25)

Parks and Rec is a mockumentary series created by the same people as The Office and takes a similar approach for filming. The show is centered around the fictional Pawnee, Indiana parks and recreation department and the lively characters working there. Locations for Parks and Rec include Pawnee City Hall (18), JJ's Diner (interior) (19), Smallest Park in Indiana (20), Ann Perkins' house (21), Andy, April, & Ben's House (22), Food and Stuff (23), Harvest Festival Field (24), and Saint Joseph's Hospital (25). The Pawnee City Hall exterior is actually the Pasadena City Hall and if you always wanted to enjoy a meal at JJ's, you can visit Four ‘N 20 in Van Nuys that is used for the scenes filmed inside.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (location 26)

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia centers around the hijinks of 5 friends who run the fictional Paddy's Pub in Philadelphia. Although it may always be sunny in Philadelphia, it is actually always sunny in Los Angeles, California where the show films. Visit the bar (26) where the gang's stories have unfolded over the last 16 years.

Community (location 27)

Community follows a diverse group of students who should have never became friends at the fictional Greendale Community College. The location of Greendale is ambiguous, but is later revealed to be in Colorado. The school (27) used to shoot outdoor scenes at is Los Angeles City College in East Hollywood.

Arrested Development (locations 28-30)

Arrested Development is a show about the Bluths - a wealthy and dysfunctional family that is now forced to rely on one another after the crimes the family business has conducted are exposed. The show takes place in Newport Beach, California, however, it is filmed primarily in Marina Del Rey and Culver City. The Bluth Banana Stand (28) is located in front of the Marina Del Rey Lighthouse and is located in the fictional Oceanside Wharf (30) based on Fisherman's Village. In reality, the Model Home (29) that is apart of the undeveloped Sudden Valley and ultimately the residence of Michael's and Lindsay's families is located in a populated neighborhood.

The Goldbergs (location 31)

The Goldbergs is a period sitcom based in the 1980s. It is loosely based on the show creator's childhood and family. The series is shown through the main character Adam's point of view as an adolescent. The Goldberg's family home (31) is located in the Cheviot Hills Neighborhood of Los Angeles rather than Jenkintown, Pennsylvania where the show is set.

Seinfeld (location 32)

Seinfeld is one of the most well-received American television shows ever written. It revolves around a fictionalized version of Jerry Seinfeld and his friends. All of the story plots are meant to mediocre life events and the main characters are never meant to develop, grow, or learn from their mistakes. The exterior shot of Jerry's apartment building (32) is not in fact a New York City apartment, but a Los Angeles apartment.

New York, New York Locations

Seinfeld cont. (location 33)

Monk's café (33) that the group of friends often frequents is based on Tom's Restaurant located at 2880 Broadway, New York City. The restaurant is also used as the exterior image, taken from the side so "Tom's" is not visible on the neon signage.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine (locations 34)

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a show focused on the capable but childish detective Jake Peralta and the fictional Ninety-Ninth police precinct of Brooklyn, New York. Much of the show is filmed on a soundstage, however, the exterior image of the police department (34) is the real life Seventy-Eighth Precinct of Brooklyn, New York.

Friends (locations 35 & 36)

Friends is one of the most popular sitcoms. The show ran for 10 seasons following the life of six friends in New York City. Many episodes take place in one of the six friends apartments. For the majority of the series Monica & Rachel and Chandler & Joey live across the hall from each other in one apartment building and Ross will later move into the apartment building across the street. The exterior apartment buildings are real in New York City. Monica, Rachel, Joey, and Chandler's exterior building (35) is located only a few buildings from Ross's exterior apartment building (36) in New York City.

30 Rock (locations 37 & 38)

30 Rock was created by Tina Fey is based on her life writing for Saturday Night Live. Liz Lemon is a writer for a sketch comedy show for NBC. The show takes place in the real life NBC headquarters, 30 Rockefeller Plaza (37). Another location that you can view is Liz Lemon's apartment (38) in New York.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (locations 39 & 40)

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is a series that follows Kimmy as she readjusts to the world after being kidnapped by a cult leader for 15 years. Kimmy decides to leave Indiana and stay in New York City to live her life independently. She befriends a lady who will let her sublet one of her apartments as long as she can pay. Since Kimmy was taken captive as a teenager she has almost no experience to be able to get a job. She begins nannying for Jacqueline, a wealthy wife and mother. Both Kimmy's apartment (39) and Jacqueline's house (40) are viewable in New York.
