MANUFACTURERS HOTEL:

1600 3RD AVE (RIVER DR)

By the late 1800s Moline had become a thriving manufacturing city recognized as the farm implement center of the world.  Seeing the need for an upscale hotel to house its many visitors, a consortium of local manufacturers chose architect H.W. Whitsitt to design a four story hotel, which the group initially operated.  Built in the 1880s, it was called the Sommers Hotel then the Keator House.  At the turn of the century it became the Manufacturers Hotel.
