Bringing Color to the City

Street art as a medium is often overlooked as a legitimate form of art and a valuable representation of the culture, history, and politics of an area.  The goal of this project is to bring awareness to the societal and personal importance of street art in Pontiac, Michigan, while also providing an easily accessible database of these pieces to the general public.

The Three Lil' Guys and the Importance of Street Art

"Three Lil' Guys"

While some pieces of art can be very meaningful, there are also some that have no meaning at all. There are artists who just paint whatever they want simply because they can. So while they might not mean anything to the artist, it can mean a lot to other people as they come up with their own interpretations and see the landscape around them become creatively transformed. Street Art in Pontiac aims to bring awareness and appreciation to the outdoor pieces that give the city color.

"The medium is the message." - Marshall McLuhan
