Supply Chain Network Analytics with Knowledge Graphs
How does it work?

All of the demonstrations in this collection of Story Maps use the same knowledge graph. By applying different analytic tools and methods to analyze the graph, we are able to answer a variety of different questions.
Let's understand how it works!

List of Suppliers
We started with a list of a company's Suppliers and the products they purchase.

Financial Research
A financial risk analyst conducted due diligence research and developed a risk profile for each Supplier. For this demo, Rebirth Analytics provided the risk profile content.

Location Intelligence
We used the ArcGIS World Geocoding Service to map the supplier network. We also added data from authoritative map layers, like world shipping ports, global shipping routes, and weather events.

Knowledge Graph
We combined the raw data, financial risk research, and location data by building a knowledge graph of the supplier network. Each Supplier entity is connected to the Goods it imports, the other (sub-tier) Suppliers it relies on, and the Ports or other infrastructure it uses to fulfill orders. At this point, the links between entities are stored as relationships in the underlying enterprise graph database. Now the data is stored the way it is in the real world: connected.
Collaboration among Experts
Multiple users collaborated to build and analyze this data. In ArcGIS, knowledge graphs are enterprise assets, so we were all able to work together in near-real time.
Network Analysis
We answered many different questions by applying various graph and spatial analytic tools. All of the demonstrations in this Story Map use the same knowledge graph.
Visualizing & Sharing
We built informative, interactive, and beautiful maps, link charts, reports, and apps to communicate the key take-aways to the end-users.
Dynamic Results
The knowledge graph is a living thing that we can continue to enhance with new entities and relationships. Now that we've identified the patterns we are looking for in the connected data, ArcGIS Knowledge will automatically reveal new matches if new data is added that completes a pattern.
