Use ArcGIS AppStudio to build 311 mobile apps

311 is a non-emergency phone number supported in many communities in the United States and Canada. Citizens can call this number to access a variety of city services, make complaints, or report non-urgent community concerns such as abandoned vehicles, graffiti, or road damage. Around the world, local authorities provide the same service to their citizens, just without the standardized phone number.

311 mobile apps

The use of 311 has evolved with technological advances that connect citizens with their governments. Along with traditional 311 call centers, many cities have launched mobile 311 apps. Citizens can use their mobile devices' built-in GPS to report issues while on-site.

Use ArcGIS AppStudio to build 311 apps without writing any code

What is ArcGIS AppStudio

ArcGIS AppStudio  is a no-code or low-code solution for creating native apps for smartphones, tablets, desktop, and laptop devices. AppStudio is a cross-platform solution, meaning you only need to create your app once and it will run on iPhones, iPads, Android devices (phones and tablets) and desktops (Windows, Mac, and Linux). AppStudio allows everyone in an organization to create native apps. The GIS user who is not a developer can configure an out-of-the-box template, an advanced GIS user can customize an existing app, and a professional developer can write code and build an app from scratch.

The Quick Report template

The  Quick Report  template is one of the configurable app templates included with AppStudio. It allows you to capture an observation and submit it to an online service. You can add your own branding with icons, colors, and splash screen images. Many cities have created 311 mobile apps based on the Quick Report template.

Some of the key features of the Quick Report template include the following:

  1. Submit reports to point, polyline, or polygon feature services.
  2. Submit reports to public feature services without signing in.
  3. Organizational users can sign in and submit reports to secured feature services
  4. Add photo, video, audio, and more than 60 file types as feature attachments.
  5. Save a report as a draft.
  6. Download and use public mobile map packages to work completely offline.
