
HISTORIC DROMORE
If you want to understand today, you have to search yesterday.
The market town of Dromore has a long fascinating history stretching back to the 6th Century, when St Colman, who became the first bishop of the see of Dromore, established an abbey here.
During the 19th Century Dromore was the centre of a thriving linen industry in the area, and the town's park was once the site of a bleach green and bleach works. Present day Dromore is a conservation town which has developed a distinct architectural character with most of its building facades dating from the 19th or 20th Centuries.
