Logan County
Logan County is comfortably situated in the southwestern part of the state and is approx. 556 square miles in size. It is one of the southern tiers of counties bordering the northern Tennessee line. Located centrally in the eastern U.S. within a day's drive of half the nation's population and manufacturing employment. It is strategically amid the growing nearby metro areas of Nashville and Clarksville, Tennessee, and Bowling Green, Kentucky. It is connected logistically with major four-lane access to Interstates 65,24,40.
Logan County has four cities- Russellville is the largest of the four cities, having a population of 7,039 as of 2019. The remaining cities by population are: Auburn (1,240), Adairville (1,006), and Lewisburg (756).
Logan County Boundaries
History
Formed from Lincoln County in 1974 as the 12th established county in Kentucky, the county is named for Benjamin Logan.
Benjamin Logan was second in command of the Kentucky militia during the Revolutionary War and a leader in the efforts to make Kentucky a state.
Logan County is known as the birthplace of the Great Revival of 1800- a series of evangelical Christian meetings that fueled the Second Great Awakening.
Additional noteworthy events include the legendary Jesse James Gang robbing a bank, President Andrew Jackson fighting a duel, and the organization of the confederate Government of Kentucky.

Tobacco & Heritage Festival
The Logan County Tobacco & Heritage Festival is known as one of Logan County's largest events. Since the very first Tobacco & Heritage Festival in 1941 the festival has been held every first week of October. The festival was, however, ceased in 1943 and resumed in 1957 due to the effects of World War II.
A few notable events include a reenactment of the 1868 Jesse James robbery at the Southern Bank of Kentucky, Thunder on the Square Car Show, Jesse James 5k Walk/Run, Logan County Wine and Food Festival, and the Red River Square Dancers.
Logan County Bluegrass Jam
Celebrated each May in Auburn, the Logan County Bluegrass Jam is a free event that offers great bands and music from all around.
Adairville Strawberry Festival
Established in 1947, the Adairville Strawberry Festival has been held every third Saturday in May- a time when all of the strawberries are ripe and juicy.
As one of Adairville's longest standing traditions, the Strawberry Festival offers several events such as a historic reenactment of the Jackson/Dickinson Duel, truck and tractor shows, carnival rides, and a 5k run.
In additions to the events, crafts and vendors set up on the square every year.
Shaker Museum at South Union
Established in 1807 by the Shakers, the South Union Shaker Village has become a popular historical site in Auburn, Kentucky.
