Atascadero is located in the heart of California's Central Coast. Its comfortable climate is influenced by the Pacific Ocean and Santa Lucia Mountain Range to the West, along with the Salinas River and open countryside to the East. Local scenery includes oak-studded hills, creeks, and scenic vistas of the Santa Lucias. The city, on the traditional land of the  Salinan Tribe , offers a blend of natural beauty and rural lifestyle. The stunning mix of rugged ridges and tranquil valleys makes it a perfect quick escape into nature with many recreational opportunities to fit your individual style. The City of Atascadero's  Community Services  Division maintains city parks, trees, medians, and city grounds. The Division also maintains the regional Atascadero Lake Park Complex, Paloma Creek Park, Colony Park Community Center/Traffic Way Park, A-Town Skate Park, Sunken Gardens Park, and the Historic Administration Building; along with their playground equipment, barbecues, picnic areas, and grounds.
