Mahmoud Bishara-Refugee
Mahmoud Bishara, Age 12, Aleppo, Syria
In the book Refugee by, Alan Gratz their were three characters, Mahmoud, Isabell , and Josef. Each one of these characters were refugees, each with a differant and unique story. Isabell lived in Cuba (1994) where the conditions were not to her and her familys liking there were riots and arrests were taking place, So they jeronied off to Miami flordia over boat. Joesef lived in Syria (2015) and had his father in a consontration camp. With all of the strugles joesefs family was facing, nazi germany added anouther. Bombs. Destruction. Violance.With their home torn apart they faced yet anouther challange in their life. Being a refugee. They traveled by boat for 1 year 1 mounth and 10 days finnaly ending with the sad death of Joesef that saved his familys life.
Apartment bombing
"Through the huge hole that used to be the wall of his apartment, Mahmoud saw grey-white cloud from missle strikes booming around" (Gratz 49)
The Refugee camp
"The next morning they had seen people. Dozens on them. Hundrends. refugees, just like mahmoud and his family" (Gratz 88)
The spotting of rocks
"'I see rocks!' someone at the frount of the dinghy yelled, and there was a loud POOM! like a bomb exploding, and Mahmoud went tumbling into the sea." (Gratz 146)
People Falling out of the boat
"Mahomouds mother sobbed, her voice recognizable in the chaos. Mahmoud spun, ariented himself, and frog-kissed his way through the waves towerd the shape he thought was his mother. He picked up her pink headscarf out of the swerling pandemonium and saw that she aws fighting to lift something up out of the water. Hana" (Gratz 158)

"Tears streamed down his face, as though they'd been held back by a dam before and now the floodgates had suddenly been opend. He'd had a gun pointed right at his face." (Gratz 249)

"' I was a refugee once, just like you,' The old woman said through the interpreter,'and I lost my brother.' she pointed to an old brown photograph in a picture frame, of a mother and father and two children." (Gratz 314)
Ukraine
Just like Mahmoud, many people have been leaving their homes because of bombing. In this photo it shows an apartment that was bombed by russia.
