Maine Hurricane Evacuation Dashboard
Find your hurricane evacuation zone, plan your evacuation route, and explore hazardous weather conditions and warnings in your area.

Introduction
Hurricanes are intense tropical cyclones, formed in the atmosphere over warm ocean waters. Wind speeds reach up to 74 mph or more, blowing in a large spiral around a calm center called “the eye.” These storms produce hazardous weather conditions including heavy rainfall, high winds, inland and coastal flooding, storm surges (water that is pushed toward the shore by the force of the winds swirling around the storm) and rip tides. Each year in the United States, tropical cyclones cause substantial loss of life and damage to buildings, roads, bridges, and coastal environments.
Some communities may need to evacuate during a tropical storm to avoid the most severe flooding and storm surge risks. If you live or work in coastal Maine or plan to visit during hurricane season (June to November), use this Hurricane Evacuation Dashboard to see if you are located in a preestablished evacuation zone and review nearby evacuation routes. You can also use this Dashboard to explore incoming hazardous weather conditions, warnings, storm tracks, storm surge risks, and even historic storm data in your area.
