Climate Change : A Poem Map

Welcome to The Climate Crisis: In a attempt to combine arts, humanities and science we have created a poem to highlight the climate crisis

Polar ice caps melting,

Sea level rising,

Oceans warming,

Temperatures increasing,

Storms raging,

Fields flooding,

Harvests ruined,

Droughts,

But people still have doubts,

Young people need to shout,

To act,

And make others act,

Through words,

And songs and stories,

We need to act,

To map the facts,

For change,

For climate change.

POLAR ICE CAPS MELTING

According to Nasa (2021) the polar ice caps are melting at a rate of 9% per decade.

The thickness of the Arctic ice has decreased by 40% since the 1960s.

SEA LEVEL RISING

Explore the Living Atlas to discover sea level changes in millimetres per year.

Can you identify areas with sea level increase and decline?

OCEANS WARMING

The graph presents a global increase of ocean temperature since 1880

STORMS RAGING

This map shows active hurricanes, cyclones and typhoons in real time

FEILDS FLOODING

Projected United States Percentage of properties at risk of sever flooding (2050).

Risk from the four major flood types (rain, riverine, and storm surge) are considered in these calculations

HARVESTS RUINED

DROUGHTS

This map shows global drought risk. We can observe that some parts of the world will be affected more severely than others

BUT PEOPLE STILL HAVE DOUBTS

YOUNG PEOPLE NEED TO SHOUT

TO ACT

For more on what  United Nations  are doing on climate change and how you can contribute

THROUGH WORDS

AND SONGS AND STORIES

WE NEED TO ACT

One way in which we can act is move towards more renewable forms of energy.

Can you think about other ways in which we can act?

TO MAP THE FACTS

FOR CHANGE

FOR CLIMATE CHANGE

Still in doubt? Explore the damage that has been done...
