StoryMap on Crime Rate in India

Displaying the crime rate in India for the years 2019, 2020, and 2021 on a state-by-state basis.

Problem Statement

The number of crimes committed is increasing every day, with varied degrees of severity and complexity. As a result, society suffers considerable losses in terms of monitoring, social loss, and the threat to society's smooth livelihood increases.

To tackle this problem, the computing era can aid in the reduction or even prediction of crime, allowing sufficient safeguards to be taken to reduce property and life loss.

Solution

The crime rate prediction strategies can be applied on historical data from police records by looking at the data from a variety of angles, including the reason for the crime, the frequency of related crimes in a certain location, and other criteria to construct a model for crime prediction.

Understanding the various data sources available to us, then modelling it to predict future incidence with reasonable accuracy and reduce the crime rate, is a massive undertaking.
