GIS Operations Supervisor II
I attended Kennesaw State University from 2006 to 2011 where I pursued a degree in Geospatial Science.
Furthering my commitment to personal and professional growth, I pursued and attained a Master of Arts in Arts and Culture from the University of Denver. This educational endeavor has enriched my perspective and approach towards GIS, blending technical proficiency with cultural insights.
Since graduating from Kennesaw State University, I have dedicated over thirteen years to advancing in the field of Geographic Information Science (GIS), particularly within the utilities sector. My career trajectory has led me to my current role as the GIS Operations Supervisor II for the Southern Division at Pike Engineering. In this capacity, I oversee a diverse team of 25 GIS professionals and interns. Our projects span a wide array of types, allowing us to contribute significantly to the development and optimization of GIS applications in utilities.
A highlight of my professional journey would definitely be my participation in the ESRI User Conference in San Diego in 2017. I was exposed to unparalleled opportunities for learning, networking, and engagement with the latest in GIS technology and applications. Currently, I am preparing for the Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) exam, a step that underscores my dedication to excellence and leadership in the GIS field.
The GIS curriculum at Kennesaw State University was pivotal in shaping my career, offering a well-rounded education that encompassed essential software skills, geospatial concepts, and career guidance within the GIS field. This comprehensive training not only armed me with the necessary technical expertise but also fostered a deep respect for the field's scope and possibilities. KSU's emphasis on the professional value of the individual further empowered me to navigate my career path with confidence, aiming for roles that recognize and compensate the true worth of GIS professionals. This blend of practical skills and professional ethics provided by KSU has been fundamental to my success in the ever-evolving GIS landscape.
