FAQ's

1) Where can I find information about trail conditions and status?

Walking trails are open for use year round, unless major repairs or upgrades are underway. Areas under minor repair will be barricaded as required. If you have questions or concerns about trail conditions or status, please contact  Ag Services . Skating and cross country status will be posted on this site.

2) Can I ride my horse on any of the trails?

Horses are not permitted on any Sturgeon County Trail at this time.

3) Are there hours that the trails are open to the public?

Most trails are open for use at any time. The Red Ribbon Trail, which is located in Cardiff Park is subject to Cardiff Park hours. These hours are as follows: Monday through Sunday, 5:00a.m. – 11:00p.m.

4) I forgot my dog bags, can I find dog bags or dog bag disposal options along the trails?

There are dog bags and receptacles on multiple Sturgeon County trails. The bags can be found on the Sturgeon County trail signs.  

5) How can I report an issue or concern?

Please report any issues or concerns  here .

6) Do all the trails have identified parking areas? Where can I find the parking access?

Lamoureux Trail, Fort Augustus Trail, Red Ribbon Trail and Bellerose Trail all have identified parking areas that can be found on the interactive map. The remainder of the trails rely on street parking for access.

Land Acknowledgement

Sturgeon County acknowledges that these trails are on Treaty 6 territory, a traditional meeting ground for many Indigenous peoples, and in particular the Michel Band and our neighbours, Alexander First Nation. We also recognize the Métis and Inuit whose footsteps mark these lands and share a deep-rooted history.
