Team H5's How Might We Question
Our Research Findings
The following three slides briefly outline the most significant research findings (selected from a pile of many) that we have come across as we developed and brainstormed a solution for this problem:
Our first solution idea was Dementia PocketCare, a dementia-friendly mobile application that enables individuals living with dementia access government-run services in the city of Hamilton. The three main services that the application provides access for is healthcare facilities, government bodies such as ServiceCanada, and financial institutions.
Our Decision

As we aim to make this solution viable, we aim to explore it through financial and environmental feasibility as well as social desirability.
Measuring Success
Being a part of the MacChangers program truly was a unique and rewarding experience. The program taught us to think and collaborate through human-centred design - something that is deeply valuable since this method of thinking is not commonly practiced in other projects. MacChangers also showed our team how to problem-solve, as the process of developing a solution that seeks to support others in need is not linear but rather filled with many obstacles, both easy and difficult. Our favourite part of the entire MacChangers journey was discussing our potential ideas with our community members and then presenting our solutions once they have been thought out. Team H5 truly believes that this program fostered their desire to create change in our community, and gave us many opportunities to sharpen our skills as human-centred thinkers. We hope that Dementia PocketCare will soon come to fruition and leave a positive impact on those living with dementia, and we hope even more so that others could use our journey as a source of motivation and encouragement to launch projects of their own to help those in need.
