Central Region Trout Stocking

Freshwater Fisheries and Hatchery staff in Central Region stock over 80,000 rainbow and brown trout into local waterbodies every year. Most trout are stocked during the March and April trout season, but there are some limited stockings in October. In 2023, the first youth trout fishing day was implemented. The youth opening day occurs on the Saturday before the conventional opening day and allows anglers under the age of 16 to keep two trout each.
