KEY CHARACTERISTICS
The estate is 2,500 acres of which 220 acres are planted to vines – the remaining land is preserved for native vegetation, including 125 acres of olive orchards. In pursuit of quality, the team implemented a micro-cru viticultural philosophy, which sub-divides each vineyard block into smaller sections based on the individual terroir and soil types.

KEY CHARACTERISTICS
The name Capensis is taken from the Latin word meaning “from the Cape,” and pays homage to their home in South Africa, one of the oldest winemaking regions in the world. Encompassing 49-hectares at 600m above sea level, 9-hectares are planted to the estate-owned vineyard and contribute to all three Capensis wines. The property is planted to a 1-hectare community garden that produces bounty for farm workers and employees, while the remaining land is preserved as natural habitat for native vegetation and animals. At the center of the farm’s development is a commitment to sustainability and the embrace of biodiversity.

Hickinbotham
KEY CHARACTERISTICS
The first vines at the Hickinbotham Vineyard were planted in 1971 by Alan David Hickinbotham, son of Australia’s first wine science lecturer at the famous Roseworthy Agricultural College, Alan Robb Hickinbotham. This 186-hectare property of rolling hillsides remained under Hickinbotham family ownership for more than 40 years until it was purchased by the Jackson family in 2012. The vineyard has been farmed according to organic and biodynamic practices since 2019. Led by winemakers Chris Carpenter and Peter Fraser – and viticulturer Michael Lane – Hickinbotham Vineyard continues its nearly 50-year legacy.
