Overview of all 2024 Projects

Knighton Road Realignment

About the project:

The purpose of this project is to replace aging underground infrastructure and rebuild the road structure to improve the alignment. A multi-use pathway will be installed along Knighton Road and the old railway corridor to connect Rails to Trails and Upper Chapman Camp.

The active transportation portion of this project is being funded in part by the B.C. Active Transportation Infrastructure Grants Program.  Learn more about the program here .

Anticipated Impacts/Disruptions:

Residents can expect road closures in the highlighted area. During road closures, access to Upper Chapman Camp will be from the North.

Marysville Industrial Park Servicing

About the project:

This project will upgrade and add looping to the water network, improving fire flows. Additionally, the sewer main will be extended, bringing servicing to the 300 block of 315th Avenue. The project is being funded primarily through a contribution from the Province’s Regional Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program (REDIP). The grant contributed $1 million to the project, with the Kimberley Land Development Reserve supporting the remaining $297,000 required. It will result in enhanced business development opportunities in the park.

Anticipated Impacts/Disruptions:

At certain times during the work, vehicle traffic or access will be disrupted. Access to driveways will be restricted at times to allow for construction and property owners will be advised by on-site personnel.

Bootleg Gap Golf Course access will be maintained for the project's duration.

Sewer Pipe Lining: Overwaitea Hill

About the project:

Part of the 2024 Sewer Pipe Lining Program. Pipe lining is a cost-effective alternative to pipe replacement that renews the function and lifespan of sewer infrastructure.

Anticipated Impacts/Disruptions:

Trail closure possible. Periods of single lane alternating traffic on Wallinger Avenue.

Project Status: Construction Complete

Primary Contractor: Mar-Tech Underground Services

Sewer Pipe Lining: Mark Creek Trail

About the project:

Part of the 2024 Sewer Pipe Lining Program. Pipe Lining is a cost-effective alternative to pipe replacement that renews the function and lifespan of sewer infrastructure.

Anticipated Impacts/Disruptions:

Trail closure may be required.

Project Status: Construction Complete

Primary Contractor: Mar-Tech Underground Services

Annual Road Rehabilitation: Creston Street Alley

About the project:

Part of the 2024 Road Rehabilitation Program. Selected road segments will be resurfaced in order to renew the road's lifespan and improve driving conditions.

Anticipated Impacts/Disruptions:

Residents can expect road closures during construction. Residents will be notified by contractor regarding the timing of closures.

Project Status: Construction Complete

Primary Contractor: BA Blacktop

Annual Road Rehabilitation Program: Kimberley Cemetery

About the project:

Part of the 2024 Road Rehabilitation Program. The existing gravel surface will be paved, extending the existing paved surface.

Anticipated Impacts/Disruptions:

Minimal disruptions are expected.

About the project:

Part of the 2024 Road Rehabilitation Program. Selected road segments will be resurfaced in order to renew the road's lifespan and improve driving conditions.

Anticipated Impacts/Disruptions:

Residents can expect road closures during construction. Residents will be notified by contractor regarding the timing of closures.

Project Status: Construction Complete

Swan Avenue Retaining Wall & Sidewalk Installation

About the project:

A new sidewalk will connect the Swan Avenue pathway to the existing sidewalk in front of Centex/Stoke Market. Repairs to the retaining wall will also be completed with additional bank stabilization along the lower section of the path.

Anticipated Impacts/Disruptions:

Expect trail closure of the Swan Avenue pathway during construction. Impacts to road use on Swan Avenue is expected to be minimal, but may be required at times.

Centre 64 Stage & Landscaping

About the project:

This project will transform the currently vacant space into an outdoor performance space with a stage and outdoor seating.

Anticipated Impacts/Disruptions:

The parking lot will be closed for the duration of the project.

Project Status: Pre-construction

Primary Contractor: Not yet awarded.

Cominco Gardens Rejuvenation

About the project:

This grant funded initiative will bring renewed landscaping to the gardens, as well as restoring and adding new structures for visitors to enjoy.

Anticipated Impacts/Disruptions:

Residents will be notified by contractor regarding the timing of closures and service disruptions.

Project Status: Project Underway

302nd Avenue Water Main Upgrades

About the project:

This project will upgrade the existing water main, bringing increased capacity that will serve new residential units in the neighbourhood.

Anticipated Impacts/Disruptions:

Access may be restricted to residents only during construction. Residents will be notified by contractor regarding the timing of closures.

Project Status: Construction Complete
