Esri Community Maps
Esri's Community Maps Program accepts Road Closure and Stream Gauge live feeds.
Road Closures
Streamline road closure inventories and increase transparency.
Utilities, governments, and other service providers are continually making infrastructure improvements. Furthermore, the number of special events and festivals are increasing because they often attract individuals from outside the community and improve local economies.
Many of these infrastructure improvements and special events occur within the public right-of-way. As a result, governments are experiencing a surge in right-of-way (ROW) permit applications and related road closures. The growing number of road closures impact roads used by commuters, travelers, delivery drivers, and first responders.

Sharing road closures with the public can improve public safety by alerting residents to potential hazards that may require them to slow down or take a different route. Most residents use consumer mapping applications to navigate throughout a community and unfortunately do not look to local government websites for authoritative closure information.
As a result, governments would like to syndicate authoritative closure information with consumer mapping applications to ensure real-time closure information is available to residents on devices they use every day to navigate through their community.
The Road Closures solution helps governments maintain an authoritative inventory of closure information. It delivers a set of capabilities that help you inventory road closures and detours; and share closures with consumer mapping applications.

Road Closures for ArcGIS Solutions
Governments can deploy the Road Closures solution and use it to map closures in their community that may be caused by construction activity, special events, and emergency incidents.
When ready, organizations can join the Community Maps Program and share their road closure information with Esri. The Community Maps Program will then regularly aggregate each participating organization’s road closure data into a single road closure layer and share the aggregated closure information with consumer mapping partners involved in the program.

Live Stream Gauges
Stream gauge observations of stage height and discharge are contributed by the GIS community. Live Stream Gauges provides access to near real-time stream gauge readings compiled from a variety of agencies and organizations.
The Community Maps Program will accept stream gauge data from:
- Feature services
- API endpoints
- Online repositories that are frequently updated (e.g. FTP site or online files)
The gauge data must provide near real-time depth and/or flow rate observation in a standard format such as XML, JSON, or tab-delimited text or through consistent API calls. In addition, it should be possible to query the gauge's time series record and create graphs using web services.
Flow forecasts are provided where available. Sensor feeds are owned and maintained by the GIS community. For details related to stream gauge criteria and requirements, please email CommunityNotifyHydrology@esri.com .
