Important and Unimportant sights in Hyvinkää
A series of pictures to show the importance of nature in cities
the city
Hyvinkää is a beautiful small city in the south of Finland, with lots of natural places to go to and some things to do in the city as well; it's a beautiful quiet town but not all of its sights are important, some more than others, at least in my opinion
nature and its beauty
As we can see from these two pictures taken in the Sairaalanmäen park in the south of Hyvinkää, nature is very much present in this beautiful garden city
Vantaanjoki
This is a spot on the river Vantaa, in the very south of Hyvinkää, where nature is present and all sorts of aquatic animals can be seen, like trout or salmon, as well as many birds like ducks and swans. It's totally immersed in the countryside near the city and can be used for many relaxing walks
Pavinmäki
For a geographical change, we go to the east of Hyvinkää in a typical neighbourhood in the city; this view can be enjoyed there, seeing the trees in the horizon is so calming and peaceful and makes one reflect on the sheer importance of nature in Finnish cities
nature and its importance
These and many others are, in my opinion, the many important sights of a city like Hyvinkää. The unimportant ones are all in the city, and with little to no nature around; in my opinion the greatest and most important sights of any place are the ones where its connection to nature is present and valued as they are the single largest factor in both keeping a sustainable environment and providing a beauty that's already there but which many places fail to value.
Finland is no such place and while many consider the vast expanses of wood ordinary and repetitive, to someone who's only seen woods after a 4 hour drive to remote mountains, having this landscape at hand's reach is the highest privilege I could be gifted with, without the natural diversity Finland has, it would certainly be a worse and more dystopian world to live in.
