Course Map

Crandall Park's  18-hole disc golf course was designed and constructed in 2020 by professional disc golfers Jaimen Hume and Jon Hotmer, with the assistance of dozens of local volunteers under the direction of Elizabeth Hogan and the  Crandall Park Beautification Committee . It is a primarily wooded course and all holes are Par 3. Walks between holes are short. It is perfect for beginners and families, but challenging enough for experienced players to enjoy. The course is free to play.

Discs can be checked out for free from  Crandall Public Library  or purchased inexpensively at local Glens Falls course sponsors  Fountain Square Outfitters ,  42 Degrees , and  Inside Edge .

Directions to Course.  Please park in the main parking lot off of Glen Street.

Disc Golf 101

Objective of the Game

Disc Golf is played like traditional golf, but with disc golf discs instead of balls and clubs. One throw (stroke) is counted each time the disc is thrown. The goal is to play each hole in the fewest strokes possible. The player with the lowest total strokes for the entire course wins. The hole is completed when the disc comes to rest in a disc golf basket or suspended in its chains.

SAFETY FIRST

Never throw when players or other park users are within range. Always give park users the right of way. Be aware of your surroundings and environment at all times.

Tee Throws

Each hole begins with a tee throw. Tee throws must be completed within or behind the designated tee area.

Lie

The lie is the spot where the player’s previous throw has landed. Mark each lie with a mini marker disc or leave the thrown disc on the ground where it landed. The player’s subsequent throw is made from directly behind the marked lie.

Fairway Throws

Fairway throws must be made from directly behind the lie. A run-up and normal follow-through, after release, is allowed, unless the lie is within 10 meters of the target. Any shot within 10 meters of the target requires that the player maintain balance and not move past the lie until the disc comes to rest.

Completion Of Hole

A disc that comes to rest in the disc golf basket or suspended in the chains constitutes the successful completion of that hole.

Throwing Order

The player with the least amount of strokes on the previous hole is the first to tee off on the next hole. After all players have teed off, the player whose disc is farthest from the hole always throws first.

Out Of Bounds

For a disc to be considered out of bounds (O.B.) it must be completely surrounded by O.B. If the disc has any portion of it still in bounds the disc is not O.B. and you can mark your lie one meter away from the O.B. line. If your throw lands in an area marked O.B. on the tee sign, check the tee sign to see how to continue. If nothing is mentioned play your next shot, with a one stroke penalty, from where your disc crossed into the O.B.

Course Courtesy

  • Remain quiet while others are throwing.
  • Stand behind the player who is throwing until throw is complete.
  • Remove disc from the basket after completing the hole.
  • Help new players learn the rules.
  • Allow faster groups to play through when possible.
  • Pick up trash and put in proper receptacles.
  • Do not alter the course (trees, bushes, etc) in any way.
  • If you find a disc on the course with contact information on it, try to reach out and return the disc. There is also a disc lost and found at  Fountain Square Outfitters .
