55 acre forest health treatment being conducted by Evergreen Fire & Rescue and other contractors. Phase 1 of treatment completed.

Dedisse Park

55.25 acre treatment completed June 1st 2023.

Cub Creek Park

Roadside Fuels Reduction work 14 weeks of MHYC completed in August of 2024.

Hobbs Peak Conservation Park

40 acre treatment. Contracted 14 acres of work. 15 weeks of MHYC chainsaw crews and finishing treatment in house with DMP seasonal staff.

North Turkey Creek Conservation Park

Contracted 30 acres of work and Mile High Youth Corps (MHYC) for 8 weeks of chainsaw work. Finishing work with Denver Mountain Parks staff.

Pence Mountain Conservation Park

75 acre roadside fuel break treatment along HWY 103. A major evacuation route in event of a wildfire. Work completed in Fall 2024.

Berrian Mountain Conservation Park

DMP Forestry staff is implementing a secondary treatment in Berrian Mtn with 15 weeks of MHYC performing fuels reduction work funded through a COSWAP grant partnering with Evergreen Fire & Rescue. Work completed in Summer of 2024.

Dendrochronology Study with Regis University

Sampling fire scared trees to determine historic fire return intervals in DMP. Data collection started at Corwina Park in early 2023.

Wildland Fire Training for DMP Staff

Mountain Parks staff who pass all courses will be Firefighter Type II Certified through NWCG (National Wildfire Coordinating Group) 12 full time staff members have been "red card certified".

Legault Mountain Conservation Tracts

DMP forestry has treated 78 acres in the two western parcels as of 2022. An additional 72 acres was completed in Summer of 2024 adjacent to the Hilldale Pines community south of Conifer, CO.

Daniels Park Pasture Restoration

Denver Mountain Parks is contracting 50+ acres of Gambel Oak brush removal and performing at least 14 acres of removal per year in house to enhance American Bison forage throughout Daniels Park pastures.

Gambel oak removal also reduces the severity of a potential wildfire in the park that is surrounded on three sides by the Highlands Ranch/Castle Pines communties.

Bell Park Forest Health Restoration

Forest Health & Fire Mitigation Project completed in 2022. Approximately 200 acres total were treated. 35 acres along Little Cub Creek road, a major evacuation route, and 165 acres in a large continuous area of Bell Park.

Stanley Conservation Park

DMP will begin 70 acres of Forest Health Treatment in Fall '24 Spring of 2025. Work will consist of hand felling trees and forwarding with Helicopter long line operations. Mastication of slash will follow.
